Janelle Monae is touring with Bruno Mars in 2011.This will be co-headlining the Hooligans in Wondaland Tour that will last from May 4 in New York at the Roseland Ballroom and end on June 15 in Phoenix at Comerica Theatre. As a musician, this young Kansas City native (born December 1, 1985) benefited from a chance meeting and pairing with Big Boi in Atlanta. She originally left Kansas City for New York to study theatre, but decided to pursue a career in music instead. The decision prompted a move to Atlanta, a city burgeoning with chances for an artist interested in soul and funk.

Janelle Monae formed the Wondaland Arts Society with Big Boi, appeared in Idlewild (Outcast's sixth studio album), and began working on her four part concept album based on her take on Metropolis.

Now, she has broken into the Billboard 200 with her album The ArchAndroid, and hopes her previous work on the road yields a terrific career as a musician. Her music can be described as infectiously moving and has been known to inspire even the stiffest individuals to try and shuffle their feet on the dance floor.
