He encountered jazz bassist Geoff Gascoyne and he gave Cullum the chance to play on his album, 'Songs of the Summer.' With the initial support of Gascoyne, Cullum recorded his next album in 2002 and was titled, 'Pointless Nostalgic.'
The album was another success and received extensive airplay on radio channels and most notably on TV and Radio personality Michael Parkinson's BBC 2 radio show. His got him more publicity and Cullum signed a lucrative deal with Universal Records and released his third album in 2003 titled, 'Twenty something.'
