Perlman is a world famous Israeli musician whose primary instrument is the violin. At the young age of four, tragedy struck when he lost the use of his legs because of Polio. It was a painful ordeal for young Itzhak as he could not move around and play with his friends like his friends. But destiny had greater plans for him, he began taking violin lessons at the local Shulamit High School in Tel-Aviv. He realized soon that he was made to play the violin.

When he reached age 10, he started to perform in recitals and concerts with the Israel Broadcasting Orchestra. But he had bigger mountains to conquer, he wen ton win a talent hunt competition and appeared on American television. His hard work and resilience got him many scholarships and awards. This helped him stay in the Big Apple and allowed him to study in the prestigious Juilliard School with Galamian.
Perlman made his first professional appearance at the famous Carnegie Hall. Among his many awards, he won the the Leventritt Memorial Competition in 1964. These accomplishments helped him make some inroads into the many popular American orchestras that included the famed New York Philharmonic. In 1965, Perlman embarked on a tour of his home-land Israel.

Perlman made his UK debut in 1968 at Festival Hall with the popular London Symphony Orchestra. The period between 1968-69 saw him participating in the famous London South Bank Summer Music Series.
