Born on October 30, 1967 in Kilburn, London, England, Gavin McGregor Rossdale's family consists of his parents Richard and Barbarar, and younger sister Lorraine, and an older sister Soraya. His parent divorced when he was 11 and was brought up by his doctor father. As a teenager Gavin was a self proclaimed punk, who used to punt glitter on his stomach and egg withes in hair. His sisters Soraya was played an instrumental role in placing him in a band like the Pixies and by the age of 19 Gavin was learning to play the guitar. The start of his musical journey was not rosy, and saw him being a part of quite a few failed bands, including Midnight. But, a meeting with Nigel Pulsford, in 1992 at a concert soon changed all that and in the same year ‘Bush' was formed. Sixteen Stone, their first album had an unprecedented success and went platinum many times over, making them one of the most popular British bands in the history of the American music scene. They were so popular that their world tours sold out at almost every venue they played.

The band came out with 3 more studio and one more remix album , and every release showed the music lover, how much Gavin had grown as a musicians and songwriter. Gavin release his first solo song in the summer of 2002, ‘Adrenaline' for the movie XXX. Gavin then went on to do a solo project backed by a band called Institute, which had him as the front man. In Septemeber 2005, Distort Yourself released marking the reenter of Gavin Rossdale into the world of Rock. This association underlines the inherent talent of Gavin Rossdale and has pushed him back into the limelight for his music.
