But after that he left the band. He was again reunited with Ozzy and four others Polka Tulk, along with Guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward and renamed their band Earth. Later, they again renamed their band Black Sabbath, in the year 1969, since they found out their was another band with the same name, Earth. He is accredited as the founder bassist for heavy metals legends Black Sabbath. Other doing albums with Black Sabbath, he has also released his solo album 'Black Science' and 'Ohmwork'
William Ward, popularly known as Bill Ward was born in the year 1948, on 5th May. He is the drummer for the band Black Sabbath. Apart from being a drummer, he also sang some lead vocals for two Black Sabbath songs. They are 'It's Alright' (from Technical Ecstasy), and 'Swinging The Chain' (from Never Say Die!). He has got his own distinctive style of drumming. Most of the time, he doubles up the rhythms of the bass and guitar riffs, that produces enchanting as well as a powerful combined effect, such as 'Iron Man' from the Paranoid album. Not only this, he is also known for his quick playing of drum rolls in between riffs and not to forget his powerful grooves, such as in 'Symptom of the Universe'

He has got a unique characteristic of playing the heavy metal by closing his thumb over the middle and ring fingers, and at the same time using the index and little-finger extended. He is also known for his consistently powerful voice.
