Hatebreed is one name when we talk of moshcore bands. Hatebreed hails from Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut. The band was founded in November 1994 by Jamey Jasta, Dave Russo, Larry Dwyer and Chris Beattie.
Although the band didn't start as very big project, they began by recording a three song demo and selling it to locals. Those three songs would eventually be released on a split seven inch with New York's Neglect. They followed that up with the highly acclaimed EP Under the Knife in 1996, and the following year released what many fans consider the definitive '90s album of the genre, Satisfaction is the Death of Desire on Victory Records, then the home of some of the biggest bands in metal core.
Ever since its formation the band has been involved in tours, a constant touring schedule pushed them beyond the boundaries of the hardcore punk and metalcore scenes. It was due to these tours with national metal bands such as Slayer and Slipknot brought them to the attention of many non-hardcore/metalcore fans. These influences were apparent on the band's next two releases, 2002's Perseverance, and especially 2003's The Rise of Brutality.
After the release of The Rise of Brutality, the band took part in the 2004 The Unholy Alliance tour in Europe with Slayer, Slipknot and Mastodon. In June, 2006, Hatebreed embarked on a European tour which included a Main Stage performance at the Download Festival in Donnington, U.K. Immediately following this European tour, they were a Main Stage performer for the 2006 Ozzfest Tour.
The band's latest album, Supremacy was released in August 2006 through Roadrunner Records. Jasta described it as an "all-out onslaught of completely adrenaline-charged, in-your-face brutality."

Hatebreed still maintains tight connections to the hardcore and metalcore communities, evidenced by the lineup for the their 10 year anniversary show at Toad's Place on November 25 and 26, 2005 in New Haven: Neglect, One 4 One, Irate, and reunions by All Out War and Skarhead.
Jasta was not only the front man of the band but was also assigned several other duties, Jasta is also the host of the MTV2 television program "Headbangers Ball" and runs Stillborn Records, home of Subzero, Full Blown Chaos, and Jasta's own side project with Skarhead's Lord Ezec called Icepick.
On September 13, 2006, former guitarist Lou "Boulder" Richards died at the age of 35. Richards played on 1997's Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire and 2002's Perseverance before leaving the band later that year. Jasta gave the following statement to Punknews.org regarding Richards' passing:
"I wanted to get in the right head space, to get back to square one, and to why I started expressing myself through music in the first place," says frontman Jamey Jasta about Supremacy, his band's fourth full-length and Roadrunner Records debut. "Once Chris and Sean started bringing ideas to the table, and I started arranging songs and reading through the lyrics I had compiled, I got excited again. I wanted to feed off that and the feelings that I had on our first record. I wanted to tap into those good feelings and adrenaline and to express and communicate them over the most intense album we've ever made." Thanks to the visceral, fierce music contained on Supremacy, it appears that the members of Hatebreed., who were nominated for a Grammy in 2005, have gotten their 'inspiration' back.
"As many of you may have heard, and we were sorry to learn, our former guitar player Lou "Boulder" Richards passed away yesterday. It is very unfortunate that he could not see any other way to conquer his demons. We hope he has finally found some peace. Our hearts go out to Vera and his family and friends."
