Guy Clark is a famous country songwriter and performer from America. He was born on 6th November, 1941 in Monahans, Texas. He is known for writing songs for various artist like Jerry Jeff Walker, Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, Johnny Cash, Rodney Crowell. Guy Clark initially was lot inspired by Spanish songs which he heard in his native town. He then shifted to Houston and started working with folk music circles. He met with his lifetime friend and fellow songwriter Townes Van Zandt. Both artist used to regularly tour together. But in 1997 Van Zandt died. He also got associated with two blues singer Mance Lipscomb and Lightnin' Hopkins. Here he composed lot of folk and blues music which was influenced by country music. In late 1960's he again shifted to San Francisco. But later came back to Texas and married Susanna Clark. They moved to Los Angeles. In Los Angeles he started working for dobro inventors and also for Dopyera brothers. In 1971 he again shifted his base this time to Nashville. In Nashville at Sunberry Music Publishing he was offered job for staff writer. He later signed with RCA Records.

In 1975 he released his first album titled " Old No. 1". His earlier song " L.A. Freeway" recorded by Jerry Jeff Walker was a major hit. Guy Clark was now considered as a very talented and promising writers of Country music genre. Though he no longer lived in Texas but the town still had influences over him. In 1976 another album was released on RCA Records called " Texas Cookin". He then signed with Warner Bros. Next three albums were released with Warner Bros from 1978 to 1983. The albums were " Better Days", " Guy Clark",and " South Coast of Texas". Three songs from theses albums were very successful and featured in Top 100. For sometime he continued with his songwriting. In 1988 with Sugar Hills he released " Old Friends". He soon left Sugar Mill and signed with American Explorer imprint of Asylum Record label. With the label he released " Boats to Build" in 1992. With Asylum he released another album " Dublin Blues" in 1995. It consisted of one of his early finest song " Randall Knife". In 1999 and 2002 he released two critically acclaimed albums " Cold Dog Soup" and "The Dark" respectively. Bot albums were released on Sugar Hills. His also released two compilations one in 1995 which was titled " Rounder's Craftsman" and the other was " The Essential Guy Clark" on RCA Records in 1997. Clark has also released two live albums " Keepers " on Sugar Hill. The other was " Together At The Bluebird Café" with Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle. It was released on American Originals.
