Viking Classic Tickets The Viking Classic, Mississippi's premiere professional sporting event, is pleased to announce that it has been granted a new stand alone position on the PGA calendar. The 2009 event will be held October 26-November 1, 2009; earning its own weekend as part of the Fall Series, based on its storied history and increasing success over the past two years. As Mississippi's primary professional sporting event, the Viking Classic is named for its main sponsor, Viking Range Corporation, and is played annually Madison, Mississippi, at the Annandale Golf Club. From 1968 to 1993 the tournament was played at the Hattiesburg Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In 2007, the Viking Classic became part of the PGA Tour's Fall Series, with most of the contestants in the tournament trying to either make the Top 125 on the money list and retain their tour cards, or gain a quick two-year exemption by winning. Previously played earlier in the season, and the same week as the Presidents or Ryder Cup, most of the top Tour players chose not to take part in the Viking Classic; a scenario which should no longer be the case given its new position as the sole event on its scheduled weekend late in October.
