Background - Players Championship

The championship has earlier won by many great players such as: Jack Nicklaus, Lanny Wadkins, Raymond Floyd, Calvin Peete, Jodie Mudd, Steve Elkington, Justin Leonard, Tiger Woods, Craig Perks, and Davis Love III, Adam Scott, and Fred Funk.
None but the "Big Four" are suppose to win The Players Championship this year. Last year, Vijay Singh and Retief Goosen made runs before tying for 12th while Tiger Woods finished a joint 53rd and Phil Mickelson tied for 40th. Funk created history by being the oldest player to win the Players Championship and $1.44 million with a five-year exemption on the PGA TOUR, because of his consistent efforts.
