2006 Season Preview
|
 The 2006 Memorial Tournament will take place between May 29 and June 4, it will be played at the Muirfield Village Golf Club. The tournament attracts the top stars of Golf and is a major and prestigious PGA Tour event. The Tournament has been closely associated with Jack Nicklaus. Incidentally, the course that the Memorial event is played on has been conceptualized and designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin where the tournament is held, is situated in a suburb of Nicklaus's home town of Columbus.
Last years Memorial Championship was a roller coaster ride. There were many changes in the leader board and although there were many big names at the Muirfield Village, it was Bart Bryant who ended the day victorious. Bryant birdied the 14th, 15th and 17th holes and parred the 18th to secure his second career PGA Tour title. He finished one clear of Fred Couples.
Bryant posted a score of 4-under 68 fire past Fred Couples and win The Memorial. He completed the event at 16-under-par 272. This was his second PGA tour victory after his win at the 2004 Texas Open.
Bryant was elated that he had won the Jack Nicklaus Tournament. Fred Couples was a winner at the Memorial in 1998, he finished the tournament with a final-round 69 to finish in second place at minus -15.
Tiger Woods has been a three time winner at the Memorial but he just couldn't catch Bryant. Tiger equaled Bryant's final day score of 68 and was tied for third position at 12-under-par 276. He was joined in third place by Bo Van Pelt and Jeff Sluman. Both players had their share of the lead after each of the three rounds but feel behind.
