Chevron World Challenge Tickets Celebrating its 11th year, the Chevron World Challenge is once again scheduled to bring golf's shining stars to Southern California. Hosted annually by Tiger Woods, the Chevron World Challenge is an off-season golf tournament which takes place each December at course designed by Jack Nicklaus; Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. 2009 will mark the first time that the Chevron World Challenge will be awarding World Golf Ranking points. As the first-ever limited field event to receive Official World Golf Ranking points, the Chevron World Challenge is expanding its field from 16 to 18 professionals, with invitations being extended to the defending champion, the winners of golf's four Majors, and two exemptions selected exclusively by the Tiger Woods Foundation. The Official World Golf Rankings will then be used to select other top players to round out the remaining 11 spots. The Chevron World Challenge was established by Tiger Woods as a charity fundraiser, with all funds raised going to support programs of the Tiger Woods Foundation, including the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Orange County and Tiger's Action Plan, a nationwide character development program. These and numerous other programs established and backed by the Tiger Woods Foundation, all share the similar mission; empowering young people to dream big while setting specific goals to achieve those dreams.

Chevron World Challenge 2009 Preview

 The competitors will be playing for portions of the $5.75 million prize purse, which has the winner taking home $1.35 million, while the 18th place finisher still receives $150,000. Tiger himself holds the record for most Chevron World Challenge victories with four, and is also the only player to win multiple and back-to-back tournaments (2001, 2004, 2006-07).
