2006 Season Preview
|
 This is the biggest and the most reputed pro tournament held at Pebble Beach, with famous celebrities such as Bill Murray, Clint Eastwood, and Kevin Costner, and George Lopez (just to name a few) playing alongside some of the very best and biggest stars of the golf world. The antics of the jovial players between holes are as joyful as the tournament itself. There are many legendary stories about this grand event with Pebble Beach's rich tradition. Earlier, it was known as "The Crosby," which was named after the originator of the tournament, the late Bing Crosby.
This year the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Golf Tournament will be hosted by the Monterey Peninsula Foundation and PGA Tour in conjunction with the Pebble Beach Company. The tournament is scheduled for February 6-12, 2006.
This year, La Mesa Elementary is invited again to participate in the event. They will be performing "environmental services" at all the three courses of the tournament- Spyglass Hills, Poppy Hills, and Pebble Beach. This grand tournament is the second largest fund raiser for the La Mesa Elementary. The Elementary funds many programs based on music, art, and the computer lab which are important to children. All the volunteers will earn a remembrance AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am branded cap for providing their service. Hundreds of NPOs' (Nonprofit organizations) will be benefited from the proceeds of this event. Till now, over $55 million has been raised and distributed by the AT&T Pebble Beach Charities.
Previous winner of the tournament includes the likes of Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Crenshaw, Johnny Miller, Payne Stewart, and Davis Love III. Confirmed Celebrities for the event includes: Michael Bolton, Clint Eastwood, Kenny G, Andy Garcia, Samuel L. Jackson, Huey Lewis, George Lopez, Bill Murray, Ray Romano, Justin Timberlake and Mark Wahlberg.
