Glen Phillips is a famous songwriter, lyricist, singer and guitarist from Santa Barbara, California. He was born on 29th December, 1970. Glen Phillips was the singer and songwriter of Toad the Wet Sprocket an alternative rock group of 1990's. Glen Phillips was just 14 when he started composing music and soon formed the band Toad the Wet Sprocket. However the group disbanded in 1998. Glen now embarked on a solo career and released his solo works. Glen was born in a Reform Judaism household. His faith found place in music as major themes of his writing.
In 1986 Glen Phillips started working with Toad the Wet Sprocket. With the band he signed a deal with Columbia Records. They released many major tours and six albums on Columbia Records till 1998 when the band broke up. Glen did a pop rock project titled " flapping, Flapping" with Toad the Wet Sprocket.
In 2000 he released his first solo album "Abulum". The album was released on both CD and DVD formats. The DVD version consisted of a bonus track " Sleep of the Blessed". The album had twelve songs like " Careless", "Back On My Feet", " Professional Victim", " Maya", " Fred Meyers", " Darkest Hour", " Train Wreck", " My Own Town", " Men Just Leave", " It Takes Time" and " Drive By".

After the release Glen Phillips released another live album and toured alone. He also had a reunion tour with the former members of Toad the Wet Sprocket. Glen with Nickel Creek in 2004 released a collaboration work as Mutual Admiration Society. The album was recorded in 2000 and had written songs Glen. The album was released on Sugar Hill Records.

In 2003 he released a live album "Live at Largo" with 19 songs. The album is a compilation of recordings at the nightclub Largo. It consisted of his solo and some Toad the Wet Sprocket songs along with cover versions of songs by Randy Newman. Some of the songs in the album are " Back On My Feet", " Small Dark Movies", " Don't Need Anything", " Whatever I Fear", " Greer Zoller".

In 2005 Glen released a critically acclaimed album called "Winter Pays For Summer". The album was released on major record label Lost Highway/Universal Records. John Fields produced the album at Paramount Studios and Mansfield Lodge. The album also has guest appearances by Jonathan Foreman, Sam Phillips, Ben Folds, Jon Brion, Kristin Mooney and Andy Sturmer. "Winter Pays For Summer" had 13 songs like " Duck and Cover", "Don't Need Anything", " Cleareyed", " Duck and Cover", " Falling", " Half-Life".

'Unlucky 7" is an EP by him in 2006. The EP is a compilation having seven songs of outtakes from the "Winter Pays For Summer" sessions. In the May of 2006 he released his third full length album "Mr. Lemons". Glen autographed the the first 1700 copies pre ordered by the online store Aware Records for promoting the album. Glen's wife, Laurel Phillips did the artwork for the album. The album consists of eleven track some of which are " Everything But You", " I Want A New Drug", " Didn't Think You Cared", " Joyful Noise" " I Still Love You", " Blind Sight".
