The Gay men's of Los Angeles was formed in 1979 was an impressive volunteer effort by 99 gay men from every corner of Los Angeles. GMCLA has expanded in number since then and include several professional artist s and office staff. The chorus have toured all over the world and gained attention of audiences worldwide tremendously. They have come out with eight CD releases and have also performed with some of the renowned stage, film and television celebrities. Currently GMCLA gives their performances at the Alex Theater, acting as building blocks between people from various communities round the world, through their music.
The chorus was one of the first ones in U.S.A touring Central Europe in the year 1991. They performed in places like Budapest, Prague, Berlin, Vienna and Copenhagen. Later on a documentary on heir historic tour titled "Out Loud" was made which is popular among unlimited number of viewers over the past three years.

The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles continue to act as one of the dynamic arts organization under the guidance of new Artistic Director Dr. Bruce Mayhall.
Their 15th anniversary included shared concerts with Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, D.C, with the NY city Gay Men's chorus, the Seattle Men's Chorus in Carnegie Hall and with Gay Men's Chorus of San Diego in Irvine.
