Gaelic Storm is a Celtic band. The band is highly acclaimed and achieved lot of success. The band was formed in 1996. Its members are Patrick Murphy (accordion, spoons, bodhin, lead vocals), Ellery Klein (fiddle, vocals), Peter Purvis (whistle, Uillean pipes, Deger pipes,Highland bagpipes), Steve Twigger (guitar, bouzouki, lead vocals) and Ryan Lacey ( surdo, djembe, doumbek, and various other percussion). Gaelic Storm was formed in 1996 when Patrick Murphy and Steve Wehmeyer teamed up with Steve Twigger for a performance at O'Brien's pub in Santa Monica, California. Next year they were seen performing at many pubs. The first performance of Gaelic Storm was a smash hit with the audience. In 1997 they appeared in the blockbuster film Titanic. The film did wonders to their popularity as their first tour registered huge crowd. Gaelic Storm tours very aggressively. In a year they have about 125 dates. Their concerts have always recorded consistent attendance and the merchandise sales as well. They are extremely popular in the World music genre and mainstream music as well. Gaelic Storm along with the mainstream rock bands like Tonic, Cowboy Mouth, Sister Hazel and Gavin Degraw performed on the The Rock Boat 2004. In 2006 they were once more invited to The Rock Boat . The other acts at The Rock Boat were Better Than Ezra and Marc Broussard. The attendance record held by Alan Jackson at the Albuquerque, NM Bio-Park was broken by the band. Apart from these they have performed at some of the biggest Celtic and Folk festivals in the world like the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, Dublin Irish Festival, Brittany and Festival Interceltique in Lorient. Gaelic Storm for four continuous performed at the Milwaukee Irish Fest which is the largest Irish Festival of America. The most interesting thing to note is that the festival does not invite same artist for consecutive years. But Gaelic Storm is an exception at the festival.

A mini-documentary about Gaelic Storm has been regularly broad casted on Cinemax. They have also appeared on the national and international TV many times. Gaelic Storm has also achieved lot of international success which is evident when Patrick Murphy met Michael Flatley of Lord of the Dance fame at Cork City, Ireland. Murphy remarked about the meeting 'I told him he did a superb job of advancing Irish culture throughout the world, like the Chieftains have for years.' While Flatley said 'In fairness to you, you've probably introduced Irish music to five minutes of fame with that little film clip'.

Since their for formation, Gaelic Storm have continued to widen the the musical horizons of Celtic music genre. This they have done through creating compelling originals and new arrangements which acoustic instrumentation and Irish traditional melody and mixed it with their different blend of world rhythms. On 25th July, 2006 Gaelic Storm released their sixth album tilted ' Bring Yer Wellies ' has fourteen tracks. The album has featured on many charts. On the Billboard World Chart it was at #2, on the Internet Sales Chart as #16,
on the Independent Album Chart as #31.

Gaelic Storm had released five more albums before this album. On 28th July, 1998 they released a self title album ' Gaelic Storm '. On 20th September ' Herding Cats ' was released. The year of 2001 and 2003 saw the release of
' Tree ', and ' Special Reserve ' respectively. On the 3rd August of 2004 'How Are We Getting Home?' was released.
