The Fiesta Bowl is set for January 1, 2011. The 8-4 UConn Huskies from the Big East and 11-2 Oklahoma Sooners and the Big 12 will do battle at the University of Phoenix Stadium. Look for Fiesta Bowl tickets to see which team will begin the New Year with a big win.
The UConn Huskies come into game 8-4 and in second place in the Big East. The Huskies, coached by Randy Edsall, are averaging 26.9 points a game while surrendering 19.8. The Huskies also run the ball for 179.9 yards and 145.1 passing yards a game. This is most definitely not a passing team. Quarterback Zach Frazer has hardly been a vision and he is no threat running the football (1.2 yards per carry). The offensive star is RB Jordan Todman. Todman ran for 1,574 yards and 14 touchdowns.
The #7 Oklahoma Sooners come into the game 11-2 and 6-2 in the Big 12. That record landed them in first in the South Division of the conference and December 4th, Oklahoma earned the BCS bid for the Fiesta Bowl with a win against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big 12 Championship.
Oklahoma has the fourth-best passing attack with 336.8 yards per game and a decent running game with 141.3 rushing yards. The Sooners score 36.4 points a game thanks to that machine. The defense holds up its end, limiting the opposition to 21.9 points a game. There are three names worth knowing heading into this game. Quarterback Landry Jones finished the season with 4,289 yards, 35 TD, and 11 INT. Running back DeMarco Murray had 1,121 yards and 14 touchdowns. Wide receiver Ryan Broyles had 118 receptions for 1,452 yards and 13 TD.
OnlineSeats has the Fiesta Bowl tickets to see traditional Big 12 power Oklahoma take on UConn, a school normally associated with college basketball success, not college football. Look for great seats at University of Phoenix Stadium to enjoy a great game.
