At this juncture, Eugene recorded Born to be Blue that was produced by Mike Vernon. It was signed under the banner of the Blueside label. Here, he became the star. His live performances then received the rave reviews and the UK's Blueprint magazine awarded Eugene as the vocalist of the year. He also won the Trophees France Blues 99 Chanteur De Lannee.
Eugene signed to Armadillo in 2000. He came out with his next baby , that was his next CD Man Without A Home. It went as a major hit. It was played worldwide. Eugene became a star was started appearing in media headlines quite often in USA, all over Europe, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. His sound whipped up a storm wherever he went. Then came his Jump the Joint in 2003 that also made to Number 4 in the US Living Blues Charts. It remained on the same position for next three months. Eugene is an artist with a difference. It will never be wrong to term him as a nomadic musician who has lived his life on roads. He roamed from one place to another and his home was where his next performance was.
Eventually, each year, he transverses from America to Europe and to Australia as well with many other stops on the way to give his piece of talent to his fans.
He was born in 1963. He was the fourth son of blues guitarist Hideaway Slim. His mother hailed from a Bullock family. She was Anna Mae Bullock who was better known as Tina Turner. Eugene makes an open claim that he inherited his guitar skills from Bridges and voice from Bullocks. He was five when he started playing with his father. He was the musician of the church who used to sing with his brothers as The Bridges Brothers. He used to sing gospel. He made a foray to the stage when he was just 13. At this juncture, he entered R&B talent shows and launched The Five Stars, his first R&B band.
