Espinoza Paz is a regional Mexican singer/songwriter from Sinaloa who had written dozens of songs for others before embarking on his own recording career in 2007. Born Isidro Chıvez Espinoza in La Angostura, Sinaloa, Mexico, amazingly he wrote his first song at the young age of eleven. Paz later emigrated to Sacramento, CA, in 1996 where he worked as an agricultural laborer but, after his mother passed away, he chose to return to his homeland in pursuit of a career as a singer/songwriter.
Espinoza's breakthrough came via El Coyote, a popular vocalist who recorded his songs and making them hits, beginning with Besitos en el Cuello, Prohibido, and Para Impresionarte in 2005 and 2006. Soon thereafter, Paz began writing songs for a long list of regional Mexican artists, including Sergio Vega, La Arrolladora Banda el Limın, Banda Cuisillos, Julio Chaidez, Banda de Jerez, Jenny Rivera, Chuy Lizarraga, Adair Elizalde, El Potro de Sinaloa, El Chapo de Sinaloa, and Duelo, among numerous others.

The most notable of Paz's collaborations was with Banda Cuisillos, who performed five of his songs on their hit comeback album, Mil Heridas in 2007, which also included the smash hit title track. That same year Paz began a recording career of his own, releasing a full-length solo debut album, Paz en Tu Corazın. In 2008 another independently released album, Amigo con Derechos, followed before Paz was offered a record contract with the major label Universal Latino.
It was under this label's subsidiary, Machete Music, which the album El Canta Autor del Pueblo was released in 2008. Featuring such previously released favorites as El Celular and Amigo con Derechos, the album El Canta Autor del Pueblo also spawned the hit single El Proximo Viernes, which broke into the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart.
