Artist Biography - Eric Church
|
Eric Church passed his childhood days in Granite Falls, North Carolina. This is an area known to be one of the world's furniture capitals. When he was 4, he used to stand on a table at a restaurant and sing ‘Elvira' that pleased everyone whosoever were there. Eventually, the waitress and a handful of patrons used to reward him with a change.
His passion to write songs developed when he was just 13. It would not be wrong to say that Church was a self-made man. He purchased a low-priced and a hard-to-tune guitar. Then he started learning himself the highs and lows of playing the guitar. His learning was very much influenced by his parents' eclectic tastes.
H received an inspiration to float a gig of his own after watching a band of Harris brothers getting handsome tips for playing the songs which he too knew. This was a scene he saw at a little bar situated amid the mountains of North Carolina.
So impressed was he from this band that he developed a gig of his own by the summer of his junior year. He came up with his first gig with M. Snow in Blowing Rock at Woodland's Barbeque.
However, their experience was not that good as the wait staff drove them off as they retained their fans for longer time than the desired hours. Soon after facing this experience, he came up with a band. Those together in the band were Snow, his brother and a guitarist and was bestowed the name For two years, Church continued to play in bars and restaurants in the Hickory, Lenoir, and Boone area.
Church passed his childhood playing basketball, baseball and golf in high school, however, in college, he developed a taste for music. He completed his graduation before moving to Nashville with a degree in marketing.
As his father extended him a financial aid, he received ample time for developing make contacts. Although, first six months were tough for him for he had to do a job, that too, a day job, but soon after the passing of six months, his days changed. He signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Tree Music Publishing. Then, there was no looking back. He started receiving cuts. This includes Terri Clark's ‘The World Needs a Drink.'
Then, one fine day, Arthur Buenahora played the role of God for Church as he introduced him at the publishing company to producer Jay Joyce. Two of them clicked and started cutting demos together.
The two made a great company. Church then signed to Capitol Nashville, after a showcase with Joyce who produced his debut album, Sinners Like Me.
