Epica is one of the most popular and unique bands ever to enter the music world. What makes the band special is their amazing amalgamation of operatic elements and death grunts. Their rhythm is a mix of the tunes of the opera and some harsh vocals. The band also has a prowess in performing song passages in Latin. This band was formed by guitarist and lead vocalist Mark Jansen. The name of the band was inspired by Kamelot's album Epica.
After the formation of the band, their next step was to assemble a choir which included six men and six women. The choir comprised of three violins, two violas, two cellos and a double bass who played along with the band.
