Emmanuel's fame can be credited to its amazing collection of vocal and instrumental artists. This amazing group was formed in 1970 in Boston by Craig Smith. The band has garnered praise and acclaim from audiences and critics all over the world. Their strong relationship with the famous Pulitzer Prize-winning composer John Harbison has also contributed to the success of Emmanuel. Apart from having liaisons with some of the most renowned singers and composers, the band also performed with artists in other creative fields like the Mark Morris Dance Group. The group performed in Europe in 1989 in Brussels at the famous Theatre de la Monnaie. The band also performed in New York in 2001 at the Lincoln Center to a packed theatre filled with spellbound audiences.

In a career filled with a whopping 50 performances per year, the group has had some of the most respected composers and conductors supporting them in their performances. They have performed with great artists like John Harbison, Seiji Ozawa, Christopher Hogwood and Christoph Wolff. This amazingly talented and versatile group has also been a part of many national radio and television programmes. The group has successfully completed nine projects which are set on the lines of the works of Schutz, Harbison and Bach. The CD released by the group featuring the wonderful Lorraine Hunt Lieberson was hailed as one of the top CD's of the year by The New York Times. The band is getting ready for their next wonderful offering which includes the fantastic tunes of Mozart and Fantasies with Russell Sherman.

The music group named Emmanuel is a group of some of the most talented singers and instrumentalists all over the world. The main purpose behind the formation of the group was to perform the complete cycle of 200 sacred compositions of J.S Bach called canatas. Canatas are Italian vocal compositions with an instrumental. Canatas generally contain more than one movement. Emmanuel music has gained fame and glory by their mind blowing performances of the works of Bach, Handel, Schubert and Mozart. They also performed the complete vocal, piano and other works of Debussy, Brahms, Schubert and Schumann.
