Ednita Nazario became a singer at a very young age although accidentally. It happened when she was six years old she went to a baseball match with her brothers where she met Ernest Herger who was a top recording producer. He asked Nazario to sing him something and she stunned Herger and crowd with a very impressive rendition of a local salsa hit. Just two months later Herger offered a recording contract to her family. Though initially her family was reluctant but later signed it. At the age of 7 Nazario recorded her first song My Boy Lollipop in Spanish.
After giving some presentations she started her own band under the name The Kids From Ponce. The band performed at many dances, parties and teen oriented events. The band earned lot of local success but broke up after sometime. In 1973 Ednita Nazario's first album was released called Al Fin...Ednita. The album was major success and became number one hit. It also won her award of "New Artist of the Year".
In late 1970's Nazario took part in the OTI festival as a singer and songwriter. She sung the song Cadenas de Fuego wrote Contigo, Mujer. Her song Mujer sung by Rafael Jose received the top prize of the festival. During this time and 1980's she signed number of record deals with labels like Borinquen, Ariola and Padosa respectively. She further improved her style to more rock and pop oriented and became a regular touring artist in Latin -America.
In 1991 she released her album Fuerza De Gravedad which earned lot of success and acclaim. Somehow her recent marriage and motherhood further improved her as a singer. The album had more focused lyrics and was more maturally sung by her. The album also had duet number which she sung with Russell Hitchcock an Air Supply singer. Her later album saw more collaborations with other Italian singers Eros Ramazzotti, songwriter Luis Angel, and her husband.

Ednita Nazario after breaking up from her husband again turned her attention towards her career. In 1992 she released Metamorfosis and performed in some very prestigious halls of Puerto Rico. Her concert in Roberto Clemente Coliseum was fully sold out and it was also released as an album. Her album Espíritu Libre in 1996 attained the status of a platinum album. Her concert in the Hiram Bithorn Stadium was another of her sold out shows. In 1998 she got the lead role in the Broadway musical called The Capeman of Paul Simon. There she shared the stage with other known Latin singers like Marc Anthony and Rubén Blades . This musical further enhanced her international star status.
In 1999 Ednita Nazario made a omback in the music world with Corazón. The album was also platinum hit and won her many awards including two Billboard nominations. In 2001 she was signed by Sony Music and released her album Sin Límite with Tommy Torres her fellow singer as the producer.
