‘Edmond’ city of Oklahoma County is part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area in the USA. This city is linked to the downtown Oklahoma City by two main highways. The US Route 77 runs through its central area and Interstate 35 runs along the eastern side.

This city is the highest point alongside the Santa Fe rail line in Oklahoma Territory. The city was originally named ‘Summit.’ It was a watering and sanding point for the railroad in 1880. It was given its current name of the Santa Fe railroad headquarters in Topeka after the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. Edmond was home to its first school house as well. It still stands as a historic monument at 2nd Street and Boulevard. It had housed the first church of Oklahoma, St. John's Catholic Church, which still exists.

Edmond is listed as one of the ‘Top 100 Places to Live in 2007’ by Relocate America. It was named ‘America's Best Small Town’ by the Universal Publications of New York. According to 2000 census, it has 68,315 inhabitants making it the sixth largest city in the state of Oklahoma.

This city has 25,256 households and 18,588 families. Its population density is 802.4 people per 309.8/km². It has 26,380 housing units at an average density of 309.9/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 86.58% Whites, 4.04% African Americans, 2.27% Native Americans, 3.26% Asians, 0.08% Pacific Islanders, 0.90% from other races and 2.87% from two or more races. Its Hispanic race is 2.75% of the total population. This city has manageable sex ratio at 93.7 males for every 100 females, whereas it has 89.5 males for every 100 females aged 18 and above.

The US Census Bureau estimates that Edmond has a total area of 227.8 km², of which 220.5 km² is land area and 7.3 km² is water.
