Edgar Winter Band
The Edgar Winter Band is a rock band founded by Edgar Winter dating back to the 1970's. The band once consisted of some of the very notable and gifted artist like Ronnie Montrose a guitarist, Rick Derringer also a guitarist and pop singer Dan Hartman. Edgar Winter is an American musician born on 28th December in 1946 belonging to Beaumont, Texas. He tasted considerable success in 1970's and 1980's. He is a multi talented artist being a keyboard player, percussionist, vocalist and saxophonist. He also has good knowledge of different genres of music like jazz, rock and blues. Edgar's parents John and Edwina Winter have played a very important role for making Edgar and his brother Johny Winter for their early awareness of music. Both Edgar and Johnny at young age had started performing in Tom's fish Camp a local watering holes. By the time Edgar reached the age of entering college he was quite proficient in many kind instruments like drums, guitar, bass and keyboard. In 1970 he was signed by his own Epic Records and released several albums like Edgar Winter's White Trash and Entrance.
In 1972 Edgar Winter along with Ronnie Montrose, Dan Hartman and Chuck Ruff formed the The Edgar Winter Group. Edgar Winter witnessed lot of success with this band. The band's first album They Only Come Out at Night had hit numbers like Frankenstein which in May 1973 reached the number one position in the US. The alum had sold over 2 million copies. While single Free Ride was number 14 that very year. Their other album Shock Treatment had the song Easy Street. Jasmine Nightdreams released in 1975 had all the vocals by Winter. Same year a full album of the band was released called by the name Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer which had songs and vocals and Derringer.
However success started declining and Edgar recorded a live album of early rock and blues with his brother Johnny. It included Harlem Shuffle. Later released a hit for Rolling Stones. But this album also could not to do well leading to the formation of White Trash. In 1977 they released album called Recycled. Unfortunately due to an air crash some of the members were killed.

Edgar Winter has more than 20 albums to his credit today. He has made numerous appearances on TV and radio to promote his music and at the same time give opinions on anything that is politically incorrect. His music today has become very popular. His albums released in 1970's sounds more bluesier than compared to his later albums. But in his album of 1990 Not a Kid Anymore one can find blues tunes like Big City Woman. His music could be heard in movie Netherworld. Winter has also appeared in TV shows like Jimmy Kimmel, Dave Letterman, The Cape and Mysterious Ways.
In 2006 Edward Winter joined Billy Squier, Richard Marx, Rod Argent, Sheila E touring and Hamish Stuart touring with Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band.. His concerts have always received rave reviews. It can be said Winter's music is always evolving and has today become the master of his field.
The Edgar Winter Band fourth album was They Only Come out at Night was again released in 2006 on SACD by the known Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab an audiophile label.
