‘East Hampton’ is situated in the southeastern Suffolk County of New York. This city is the easternmost town on the south shore of the Long Island. Its area combines several villages of East Hampton and four other hamlets including Montauk, Amagansett, Wainscott and Springs amongst others.

This city is home to the largest privately owned island of the USA. It has the distinction to have the biggest fishing fleet in the New York State. This city is at the easternmost point of New York, which is surrounded by water on three sides. The town of East Hampton and the village of East Hampton are different political entities with smaller villages within the bigger town.

Forming the tip of the South Fork, East Hampton town is rather a peninsula surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in south, by the Block Island Sound in the east and many other bays that emanate from the Long Island Sound in the north. Total area of this town is 70 square miles stretching to approximately 25 miles from Wainscott in the west to Montauk Point in the east. This city is about six miles in width at its widest point and less than a mile at its narrowest point at the Napeague point. This city has the jurisdiction over Gardiners Island that is the largest privately owned island of USA. This city has approximately 110 kilometer shoreline that doubles its beauty.

According to the 2000 Census reports, this city has 19,719 inhabitants, households and families. It has the population density of 643.1 people per square mile. This city has 2,251 housing units at an average density of 403.6/sq mi. Its racial makeup is 82.46% Whites, 7.39% Black or African Americans, 0.08% Native Americans, 1.62% Asians, 0.08% Pacific Islanders, 5.94% from other races and 2.43% from two or more races. This city accommodates 16.62% population from Hispanic or Latino race. The sex ratio of this city is 92.6 males for every 100 females, whereas it has 90.2 males for every 100 females aged 18 and above.
