Duncan Sheik is a singer/songwriter from South Carolina. He began his musical odyssey when he hit the mainstream musical scene in mid-19996 with his self-titled debut album released by Atlantic records. This album was well received by and Sheik became a known face in alternative circles. Duncan was born in South Carolina in 1970, but he spent many of his childhood years with his grandparents in New Jersey. His stay in New Jersey was a learning experience for Duncan as he interacted with local piano players and aspired to play the piano.
After learning the piano he moved to the electric guitar and performed on various bands throughout high school. During his college days, he got a chance to play with Lisa Loeb.
