The rapper announced the postponement back in October on his blog. Well, just in time for a beef to escalate with rapper Common. Drake had taken offence to Common's characterization of a soft and sweet performer. The soft and sweet performer barked back at his critics and may have had the last laugh, as Take Care has gone platinum. The album, Take Care, topped the charts in Canada and the United States and is set on going at least gold in the United States. The album has featured four singles, "Headlines", "Make Me Proud", "The Motto", and the title track. So far, "Take Care", the single featuring Rihanna, reached topped ten status in the United States and UK.
Criticism has come in a different form with regards to "Marvin's Room". Drake and a woman who claims she was promised money for the song are currently hasing it out in court and in the media. Meanwhile, his fans are happy to ignore the accusations and pump up the volume to singles like "The Motto".
Though the accusations may continue to fly, Drake will continue performing live. He has added more than a few dates to his Club Paradise Tour, this time offering a concert ticket to see him and two other performers play eight more shows. On May 7, 2012 all three arrive in time to play the Sleep Train Pavilion in Concord. Seven performances later, Drake, J. Cole, and Waka Flocka will be ending their tour at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Charlotte.
Drake, otherwise known as Aubrey Graham was an actor before making his mark as a Grammy-nominated actor. The Canadian performer was born on October 24, 1986 and grew up around Toronto. He first became a public figure when he landed the role as Jimmy Brooks in Degrassi: The Next Generation in 2001. Five years later he would forge a relationship with Lil Wayne that would lead to a music career. That first step into music came with his mixtape, Room for Improvement. The tape and the accompanying website would lead to bigger things. Critical praise came in 2007 after the release of his first album, Comeback Season. He even became the first Canadian rapper with a video on BET. The song was Replacement Girl.
One of the songs on that first release was a freestyle track with Lil Wayne. That relationship led to a spot on the famed rapper's tour as a supporting act. Drake continued to release mixtapes until he finally recorded a studio album in to be released in 2010. The studio album, Thank Me Later, comes after his first EP, So Far Gone. Drake's music eventually went from mixtape to MySpace page to BET and finally to radio in 2009. Best I Ever Had and Every Girl both tracked on the Billboard 100 chart. They both managed to hit in the top ten. All this work and these popular singles eventually led to a record contract. He scored a deal with Young Money Entertainment after a huge bidding war.
Eventually Drake joined the America's Most Wanted Tour in 2010. That same year he released Thank Me Later, his debut album. The album went platinum and number one in the United States and in Canada. The singles "Best I Ever Had" and "Successful" from the EP So Far Gone. The 2010 album Thank Me Later had its own run of hits: "Over", "Find Your Love", and "Miss Me". Drake then released Take Care late in 2011. OnlineSeats has the Drake tickets to see this rapper in person as he continues his rise in the rapper world.
