Dope
Dope's debut album, Felons and Revolutionaries was released on September 21, 1999 on Epic Records. The sound snaps, crackles, and pops with turbulent riffs, samples and studio-treated vocals. The band went played many concerts, participating in many national tours with various artists like Alice Cooper and Kid Rock. A good move, as it helped "Felons and Revolutionaries" sell more than 2,50,000 units.
On November 6, 2001, LIFE, their sophomore album was released. Dedicated fans love "With or Without You,". The album was No.6 in the Top Heatseekers charts. "With or Without You," is a favorite among fans. While, "Now or Never" and "Slipping Away" were in the charts. The album has good guitar riffs and melodies with the right dose of metal aggression. After the release, Simon Dope left the band to pursue a career as a video game producer.
The band moved to Artemis records after Epic's lackadaisical promotional tactics for their album. They were joined by a new guitarist, Virus, who helped the band tremendously in songwriting. Their third and innovative album "Group Therapy" was released. Innovative as each song had a video. In 2003, "Today is the day" was chosen as the WWE's pay-per-view event No Mercy. Bitch, Motivation, Falling Away, So Low and Motivation were featured in both instrumental and full versions in the video game; MTX Mototrax.
In 2005, they began work on their next album, American Apathy. Dope covered Depeche Mode's "People are People". This album reached #1 on the Top Heatseekers charts and also saw the highest rank in the Billboard's charts. With this album, the band has returned to a harder sound similar to their debut's industrial metal style. The band is, currently, touring for two months for 22 dates. Former drummer of the Genitorturers and The Undead, Angel, has joined. A live CD/DVD consisting of the band's recently recorded audio and video from a live performance in Evansville, Wisconsin will be released later this year.

Artist Biography - Dope
|
Dope's rise in ranks has not been staggering. However, their niche-audience and loyal fans have consistently bought tickets and albums and their album American Apathy reached #1 in the Top Heatseekers charts.
This New York based quintet is led by brothers, Edsel Dope on lead vocals and guitar and Simon Dope on keyboards. As kids of divorced parents, they grew up separate until they met and decided to form a band together. Their influences are a blend of Guns 'N' Roses, Motley Crue, Kiss and 90's industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy and Ministry. Dope's sound is loaded with in-your-face drums and piercing licks. After much disbanding, leaving, returning and a hwole lot of drama, the current line-up of Dope is formed of Edsel Dope (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Virus (on lead guitars and backing vocals), Angel (drums) and Brix Milner (bass).
The band is tough. Their has been improvements in sound quality and song writing. Dope is full of intense industrial metal with a nice splash of melodic mayhem. But tickets to the band and support them on their rise to stardom.
