Performing on Rodney Dangerfield's "Nothing Goes Right" comedy specials for HBO gave Irrera his first break. Eventually, he got his own show on HBO "One Night Stand" for which he won his first CableACE award for Best Stand-Up Comedy Special in 1998. Irrera won a second CableACE in 1995 for hosting the "Full Frontal Comedy" series. For his outstanding work in Comedy Central's animated series, "Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist", he received a CableACE nomination in the writing category. In 1992, Irrera starred as a solo stand-up special for HBO's "Command Performance".

Since performing for Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show back in 1986, his humor has led to several performances on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "The Late Show with David Letterman", "Late Night with Conan O'Brien", "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The View. Besides appearing several times on "Oprah" and numerous other cameo appearances on primetime comedies such as Home Improvement, Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, Becker, The King of Queens, and The Drew Carey Show. This award winning comedian has appeared in Robert Townsend's "Hollywood Shuffle", Coen Brothers' "The Big Lebowski", "The Fourth Tenor" and worked the entire late night circuit. Heeeeeeere's Dom! A sports fanatic, Irrera hosted Comedy Central's "Offsides" an irreverent football show where he conducted side-splitting, funny interviews with football greats. In 1998 and 1999, he hosted Comedy Central's "Behind the Scenes" at the American Comedy Awards. In 2000, Dom Irrera and fellow comedians David Chappelle, Bob Goldthwait and Victoria Jackson lent their talents to the 2000 comedy/documentary Open Mic.His last performances was of "Duke the Dog" in 2006's "Barnyard". He plays Lenny Varnadou a t-shirt salesman in one episode of "The ? houe News Hour".

Among American comics, Dom Irrera has performed the most at Montreal's prestigious "Just For Laughs Festival" and the "Cat Laughs Festival" in Kilkenny, Ireland. In Australia, he performed at the "Melbourne Comedy Festival" and at "Edinburgh Festival's" Assembly Hall where he received the "Herald Award" for artistic excellence.

Dom Irrera was born in 1947 in a multi-generational Italian household in South Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Fans buy tickets to watch Dom Irrera, considered by many to have one of the most natural stand-up comedy style. On several occasions, Dom Irrera has done a voice-over for the animated series Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist and Hey Arnold!.

Born Domenick Jack Irrera, he learnt all of comedy just by living and watching his mother, sister, grandmother, uncles and cousins with whom under one very big roof. The tight-knit loving family spread over three floors and included four generations of family. A great-grandmother who lived across the road popped in at regular intervals adding more drama to his everyday life. All the years of laughter constitute most of the material of his comedy.
