He then appeared successfully in the 3rd season of the highly popular The "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" where he was seen as an old trusted friend of Will Smith who incidentally is trying out for an audition for the role of a prospective comedian. By the beginning of 1997, Hughley had the chance to go on a nationwide stand-up successful comedy tour with the likes of Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and the remarkable Bernie Mac as group known as the Kings of Comedy. The popular comedy act was later remarkably put into a beautiful film by Spike Lee and was aptly titled The Original Kings of Comedy.
