Disco Inferno
Formed in Essex in the late 1980s, Disco Inferno is the band made by Ian Crause (guitar & vocals), Paul Wilmott (bass), Rob Whatley (drums) and Daniel Gish (keyboards). But Gish's joining was short-term as he left the band and joined Bark Psychosis. Then this three member Disco Inferno band recorded the single 'Entertainment' with producer Charlie McIntosh. And it was in 1991 when their first album, Open Doors, Closed Windows, was released on Che. This album got the mixed reviews as majority mentioned that there is heavy influence of late 1970s post punk bands, particularly Joy Division and Wire. And you will be amazed to know that Disco Inferno's manager, Michael Collins, had previously managed Wire during their 70's incarnation.
Later this album was followed up with other albums such as Entertainment, Science and In Debt. All these albums were huge hits and finally in 1992, Disco Inferno released 'Summer's Last Sound' which is still regarded as the first in a run of classic Disco Inferno EPs which saw the band's increasing use of samples. Also band comprehensively used traditional instruments - particularly Wilmott's bass. This gave a unique identity to the band and this was seen in the EPs such as "A Rock To Cling To" and "The Last Dance". But they reached pinnacle of success with their second album D.I. Go Pop. This melodious album carried 8 tracks that were nothing but an array of imaginative samples such as running water, breaking glass, car crashes, and fax machines.
