Dilated Peoples are a rap band from the West Coast. Although they have just a few underground releases they have really made name for themselves. The band consists of the duo of Evidence and Rakaa. They met regularly at hip-hop shows and then decided to make music together. Thus Dilated Peoples were born in the mid 90's.
The duo have set the undergrounds scene on fire with their riveting music. The band then collaborated with DJ Babu of the Beat Junkies and recorded the singles "Third Degree" and "Work the Angles" under the label ABB Records. Both songs caught on fast and were major underground hits, especially the latter which received extensive airplay on hip-hop radio and clubplay. Subsequently they were signed up by Capitol Records.

Dilated Peoples came back in 2001 with the follow up to their debut album titled "The Expansion Team," also released on Capitol. The album got encouraging reviews and was well received. It also achieved a Top 40 placing. The band went on tour along with the film scratch in March the following year. The film was a documentary about hip-hop DJ's and turntabilists.
