Derek Truck Band
Derek Truck accidental encounter with music started at the age of nine, when he picked up a five dollar acoustic guitar at a yard sale. According to him "It was nothing special," and "It was just the only thing that looked interesting." But unknowingly that inconsequential purchase changed his entire life.
Guitarist Derek Trucks is the nephew of Allman Brothers drummer Butch Trucks. His range varies from blues to classic R&B and early rock & roll to classic jazz. Artists like Buddy Guy, Elmore James and Duane Allman have influenced him in a very big way. Trucks began his professional musical career when he started playing with a blues bands in his native town of Jacksonville. He formed his own group in high school and amazingly even before turning 20, Trucks had shared the stage with greats like Bob Dylan, Joe Walsh and Stephen Stills.

Artist Biography - Derek Truck Band
|
 The Derek Trucks Band consists of members with age groups ranging from their 20s to their 40s. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1997 on Landslide Records. Their second installment "Out of the Madness" followed in late 1998. In 2002, The Derek Trucks Band had a few adjustments to make in their lineup. They added vocalist Mike Mattison to the band, after strong recommendations by both DTB producers Craig Street and John Snyder in the same week. Mike had previously been performing and recording as a member of the duo Scrapomatic. Seeing his performances, Derek realized that he had finally discovered the final piece of the puzzle. Mike's vocals and stage presence fit his vision perfectly.
In 1999, Derek was invited to join the Allman Brothers Band, he found himself juggling the hectic schedules of two full-time touring bands. Derek still maintains his packed schedule and it keeps him traveling for almost 300 days a year. Come and experience some great music with this band.
