Dennis Edwards Tickets for Sale
Dennis Edwards came to Motown to seek a solo career in singing. In order to keep him from signing with another label, Motown signed him on a retainer, and he was finally pushed in a slot with the abrasive and raucous Contours. Meanwhile, having seen him as he controlled a Contours performance, Otis Williams and Eddie Kendricks realized that he would be a perfect substitution for David Ruffin. Thanks to the brilliance of Norman Whitfield, the addition of Dennis brought on a whole new sound. "Cloud Nine" gave Motown and the Tempts, their first grammy lead by another grammy winner "Papa Was A Rollin' Stone". Dennis Edwards is a true "Soul Survivor", and one of the most talented singers of our time. He still has his sensuous and emotional voice, which no one can take away. He is the only one of the classic Temptations lead singers alive to carry on the legacy.

Born on February 3, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama, Dennis Edwards is an American soul and R&B singer. He is most famous for being one of Motown act "The Temptations" lead singers., Edwards led the group through its psychedelic, funk, and disco periods with his gospel-hewn vocals. When "Papa" was first presented to the group, Edwards furiously rejected to sing the first verse, "because his father had actually died on September 3, just like the father portrayed in the song". Just before the group's departure from Motown to Atlantic Records, Edwards stayed in the Temptations after being fired three times by Otis Williams in 1977. After a failed attempt at a Motown solo career, Edwards rejoined the Temptations in 1980. Motown launched Edwards' solo career, and he had a hit with the 1984 single "Don't Look Any Further", a duet with Siedah Garrett. Prompted for a legal battle between himself and Otis Williams in 1990s, Edwards started to tour under the name "Dennis Edwards & the Temptations". It was decided that Edwards' group would be called "The Temptations Revue featuring Dennis Edwards", the name that Edwards tours under to this day. Edwards' current group includes former Temptation Ali-Ollie Woodson, David Sea, Mike Patillo, and Chris Arnold.
