Artist Biography - Del Castillo
DEL CASTILLO began as a latin danceroom music-style undertaking between two brothers, Rick and Mark del Castillo in the fall of 2000. Both had been playing guitar and recording on independent projects but had never worked together up until then. Their good friend, Alex "El Lobo" Ruiz began to write some marvellously soulful lyrics after an initial period of writing instrumentals, and collaborate with them to create some spirited, dynamic songs. Mike Zeoli, another longtime friend, contributed some astounding drum tracks and the project started to emit up steam. They got some fantastic optimistic responses from listeners, so what had started out as a "studio" project became a real band. The group required a coagulated bass player and turned to another close friend, Albert "El Beto Bert" Besteiro. Soon after, Rick "The Rev" Holeman was asked to bestow his beatified skillfulness on percussion which put the "icing on the cake" and concluded the band's sound.
