Default are a hard rock band from Vancouver. They are a young and upcoming and that is reflected in their experimental music, it is a combination of brooding post grunge, melodic bent of grunge, and new alternative metal. Default was formed by drummer Danny Craig and guitarist Jeremy Hora under the name of "The Fallout" in the summer of 1999. Now, they are one of the ruling bands on the Vancouver music scene.
After getting things got rolling, Danny and Jeremy auditioned several vocalists, and finally chose their high school classmate, vocalist Dallas Smith. They recorded a demo soon after . The demo eventually fell into the hands of Nickelback's Chad Kroeger. He offered to produce their independent recording sessions. The band also continued playing around Vancouver. They entered a popular talent hunt show in 2000 and ended up winning it.

This hit led to a record deal with TVT Records and was joined by bassist Dave Benedict. Prior to releasing their new album, the band came up with new name "Default." Subsequently they released their debut album "The Fallout" in 2001. It was followed by "Elocation" in 2003 and "One Thing Remains in 2005.
