David Seth Kotkin, also known as David Copperfield, was born in the suburbs of Metuchen, New Jersey in 1956. David began performing under the reflective name of "Davino": Boy Magician' usually performing at birthday parties and some small shows around his hometown. After some initial hic ups this youngest magician was smoothly admitted to SAM. SAM is better known as "The Society of American Magicians." This was a good beginning for him and at the age of 16 he incredibly began teaching magic at the reputed New York University. He soon saw the success while he was still in college at the famous Fordham University in New York. David soon left the school when he was duly cast in the lead of the superb original musical and hugely famous "The Magic Man" that was produced in Chicago. David used the popular stage name of David Copperfield, in Chicago for the first time. There he dance, sang and incredibly created all the pure magic in the show, which went on to become the great and longest running show in Chicago. His shows prove as a sell out and tickets make tickets disappear quickly.

Artist Biography - David Copperfield

In 1977, David received another big offer as; ABC snagged David to do a purely good magic series well known as "The Magic of ABC Starring David Copperfield". This show proved as a huge success, and then the big offer eventually pouring in and after some time CBS signed David up to perform his sensational current show 'The Magic of David Copperfield' specials. This was the beginning of the great era, since 1978, he has been seen on Television with some highly rated and superb Emmy award winning specials. His magical credits are numerous; he has walked through the Great Wall of China, he has amazingly made the Statue of Liberty disappear and David has even flown through the air. His one great accomplishment is his project named as David's is Project Magic. A well accepted and rejuvenated rehabilitative program that was developed over a decade ago. This hugely praised program really helps to strengthen dexterity and motor use in ailing and disabled patients by using remarkable and simple sleight of hand magic. David's Project Magic is very well implemented in over thirty countries and over mammoth 1,000 hospitals worldwide.

In 1996, David made his Broadway performance in NYC and he was duly stopped by Metuchen to receive an honor and thorough dedication of Copperfield Lane. New York has a street sign bearing his name. David has enjoyed huge success throughout his long career. David is very well known as the greatest illusionist of our time. David usually performs around 500 shows a year during his hectic touring worldwide. David not only performs sell out shows around the world but he regularly at the reputed theaters. In 1996, his famous show "Dreams & Nightmares" set a remarkable box office record. His list of accolades is very long, David has been honored on postage stamps in many countries and he has been knighted by the French government, and he has been rated as the thirteenth highest paid entertainer in the world.
