David Bromberg Band Tickets for Sale

One of the most skillful musicians of his era, Bromberg has performed on more than 100 studio albums as a sideman and guest performer, including appearances on songs by Bob Dylan, Chubby Checker and Ringo Starr. His natural endowment and unusual overture to folk, rock and bluegrass music led him to embark on his own and record studio albums as a front man. He is crisply diversified in his music. Since then, he has become a favourite live draw, frequently performing with his "big band" on a host of instruments and applying many of his own and other popular tracks. David Bromberg is a gifted artist who is skillful in playing a band of instruments, which includes acoustic and electric guitar, fiddle, and dobro. The key to acknowledge Bromberg, is to recognize, he has an balanced passion for blues, folk, country and western, bluegrass and rock & roll. This diverse orbit of power is mirrored in all his recordings for Columbia, Fantasy, and Rounder, and in his performances too. A emblematic Bromberg concert can be a musical education. David is at present on tour with his quartet (DBQ), his big band (DBB), and solo (DB). Bromberg has reunified the "big band" over the last few years and the band came together at least twice for two short runs in 2003. David also plays with Jay Ungar and Molly Mason in their show titled "An Evening of American Acoustic Music" which creates an eclectic musical journey through various unambiguously American music forms. The show features the early works of Stephen Foster, the Texas swing of Bob Wills, Cajun fiddle tunes, Delta and Chicago Blues, Bluegrass, Folk and much more. Bromberg's live show remains as unequalled as ever.

Born in Philadelphia on September 19, 1945, Bromberg grew up in Tarrytown, New York. He began to learn the guitar at the age of 13 as he was influenced by the music of Pete Seeger and the Weavers. He registered at Columbia University captive on a career as a musicologist after graduating from Tarrytown High School. A sole performer/writer/arranger, Bromberg's extraordinary musical skillfulness and progressive thinking has earned him immense critical and popular plaudits. He, also cannot be classified easily. As one critic incisively wrote, "David Bromberg fits no pigeonholes. He is part of everything contemporarily musical. He is a product of blues, country, jazz, folk, and classical music. From his early success as a guitar virtuoso, Mr. Bromberg has developed into a brilliant entertainer."

Bromberg decided to go it on his own in 1970, which lead to a impressive, unexpected performance at England's Isle of Wight Festival that year. Soon, he was signed to his first recording contract, whose outcome was the release of four albums: David Bromberg, Demon in Disguise, Wanted Dead or Alive, and Midnight on the Water with Columbia, now Sony. Two compilation albums had later, been released.

Bromberg moved to the San Francisco Bay in the spring of 1977, where he recorded several albums for Fantasy, including the double album How Late'll Ya Play ‘Til? Concerts by David and his band are prodigious events, and performances are full of suprises as there is no set pattern. The performers on each level are skilled, impulsive, and totally heartfelt. As the NY Times noted "He has such control of his audience that he can, at one moment, hold it in his hand with a tender, touching yet funny anecdotal song, and then set it romping and stomping with a raucous bit of raunch. He is electrifying."
