Daryl Hall Tickets for Sale

Daryl Hall & John Oates, or more precisely Hall and Oates, is the American group whose composition (surprise, surprise) is two members of the same name. This duo peaked in the latter years of the 1970s and held on to the mid 80s with their unique style that was a fusion between rock and rhythm and blues (RnB). They affectionately dubbed their style “rock and soul” and at this time and throughout their career, recorded songs that, characteristically, featured strong hooks and even stronger melodies that appealed to fans giving the two near-cult status particularly in the US.

The duo had a record six songs on the Billboard Hot 100 and countless others, which while not making it to number one, made it to the Top 40. Notable achievements of the duo include 34 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US, seven platinum albums and six more gold albums. The two have had success even past the 1980s what with the fact that they were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003 and are still to date regarded as one of the greatest artists of all time.

The duo met in Temple University where they were both students and where Hall was already a professional performer. The chemistry between the two as professionals was undeniable and, though they broke up for a time to pursue individual interests, got back together in 1969 and managed to secure a deal with Atlantic Records. By 1984, they had outdone The Everly Brothers and taken their place as the most successful rock duo of all time.

The two draw their influence from a number of sources ranging from the Beatles to Al Green. Apart from a few performances here and there, there hasn’t been much activity from the duo lately but as of October 2013, it was announced that they were contenders for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
