The Cramps – the rock band – was formed in 1972 as a result of the association of Lux Interior(Erick Purkhiser) and Poison Ivy(Kristy Wallace). Lux is the lead singer of the band and Poison Ivy the lead guitarist.Their songs were marked by the lyrics and the characteristic feature of being totally different from the others. Their songs dealt with sexual fetishism, sleaze and clever bad jokes. Their music was influenced by a number of rock and punk groups of the 60s . Inspite of the influence they have developed a style of their own and have been great influence to the bands to come who followed similar styles.
