Constantine Maroulis was born on September 17, 1975 in Brooklyn, New York. He is a rock singer, actor, and writer. He is also the lead vocalist of the hard rock band "Pray For The Soul Of Betty." He shot to fame when he became a finalist on the the popular show American Idol – 4.

Maroulis took a break from his band to compete on "American Idol 4". Maroulis was trained at the Boston Conservatory and played "Roger" in the international touring company of "Rent." Maroulis says that his biggest inspirations have been Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin. He was voted off American Idol after he performed Nickelback's "How You Remind Me."

Prior to his American Idol fame, Maroulis competed on the dating show Elimidate[2] and played an extra on NBC's high profile show "Law and Order: SVU" and "Astro Boy." He has also performed on off-Broadway roles and has acted in a series of independent films. During his American Idol year, there were rumors that he had left his band but that is not so. Maroulis is still very much a part of the hard rock band, Pray For the Soul of Betty. He only only took a temporarily leave and returning when he was voted of American Idol. He is also working on an upcoming solo album.
