The Mexican conjunto group Conjunto Primavera was formed on March 21, 1978 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. The former was Juan Dominguez, their saxophonist and they were the most popular group in their genre during the 1990s and 2000s. Other members of the group are Tony Melendez (vocals), Felix Antonio Contreras (accordion, keyboards), Oscar Ochoa (bass), Daniel Martínez (drums) and Manuel Rolando Perez (bajo sexto). They performed for a few years before signing with Joey Records, an independent label in San Antonio, Texas and in 1993 released their album "Me Nortie" on AFG Sigma Records, which was their major success. They recorded many for Joey Records and in the 1990s many were reissued on CD. Later the Mexican label Fonovisa bought AFG and their first release on Fonovisa was in 1996.

From this point, they recorded albums only for Fonovisa, which in return ensured good marketing and distribution for the albums. This was good for both parties, and Conjunto Primavera ascended the ranks of regional Mexican music, joining the likes of labelmates Los Tigres del Norte and Grupo Exterminador among the norteno scene's leading acts. Their first album to be RIAA-certified platinum was Necesito Decirte (1998), with more than a million copies sold. Other successful albums were Morir de Amor (2000), Ansia de Amar (2001), Perdoname Mi Amor (2002) and they generally went at least gold, with over a half-million sold. Also the group regularly earned Latin Grammy nominations and they performed at the 2006 ceremony, wining the award for Best Regional Mexican Song, "Aún Sigues Siendo Mía".
