Considered by many to be "Los Número Uno Del Pasito Duranguense," Conjunto Atardecer is a popular Mexican Duranguense music group. Formed in Durango, and contrary to the many other duranguense bands, the group is specifically known for actually being from the state of Durango.
Formed in Santa Maria del Oro, Durango, in September of 2000, Conjunto Atardecer's three founding members were living and studying in the area, playing local parties and festivals, and soon realized they were playing almost full-time. This realization also helped the founding members to make the decision of adding more musicians to complete their while taking Conjunto Atardecer to a professional level. At that time, the group consisted of Mario Madrigal (vocals and keyboards), Heraclio Cepeda (vocals), Alexis Soto (keyboards), Roberto Villa (drums), Emmanuel Ruacho (saxophone), Oscar Navarro (saxophone), Christian Pitones (drums), and Roberto Junior Montelongo (tambora).
Unfortunately, band member Roberto Villa passed away in March of 2009. Conjunto Atardecer is touring the U.S. and promoting its most recent recording, Dedicado a Ti; released in late May 2009, Dedicated to You is in memory of their late band member, drummer Roberto Villa.
As appearance invitations continued to pour in, so did the demands for a Conjunto Atardecer recording. It was shortly thereafter that Con Todo el Corazon was recorded in the city of Durango. The recording was met with great success, thus establishing Conjunto Atardecer as a regional favorite.

Conjunto Atardecer's second record, Cantan Corridos, was released only ten months later, and the group soon saw their regional success leading to tour opportunities in the United States. The U.S. exposure rapidly landed them a contract with the Benara Corporation in 2002, and Mi Eterno Amor Secreto was soon released on the powerhouse label Universal Latino. Heavy radio play and chart success were soon to follow; Conjunto Atardecer toured throughout 2003, performing all over the South and Midwest. With their hit records Los Número Uno del Pasito Duranguense, Desde la Sierra de Durango, and El Decimo in 2004, 2005, and 2006 respectively, Conjunto Atardecer continued to top the charts while also ascending to the top of the duranguense genre as a whole.
