Background - Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech's campus was the site of the athletes' village and a venue for a number of athletic events for the 1996 Summer Olympics.
Georgia Tech was at one time often referred to as the North Avenue Trade School, although this was never its official title. The name stems from the fact that the campus is bordered to the south by North Avenue, and that the school, in its earlier years was operated much like a trade school, with students working part of the day in a machine shop, and the other part of the day in classrooms.

 The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had a tremendous year in the Coastal division of the ACC in 2008. The football team went 9-3, won the division and went to the Georgia Dome for the Chick-fil-A Bowl. Despite having essentially home field advantage, the LSU Tigers ran them out of the building with a 38-3 loss.
Georgia Tech has quite a few blue chip players in the ACC. They have running back Jonathan Dwyer, wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, defensive lineman Derrick Morgan, and defensive back Morgan Burnett.
Overall, the Yellow Jackets should have the best running backs in the conference and a very good secondary. Georgia Tech will dominate games with its triple-option run attack. Quarterback Josh Nesbitt and running backs Dwyer, Lucas Cox, and Roddy Jones were great last season and should be good again as long as the offensive line is able to replace its two lost tackles.
Similarly on defense the back seven, the linebackers and secondary, are solid, but the defensive line is seeing a lot of new faces. All but one of the starting linebackers, cornerbacks, and safeties are returning from the 2008 college football season. The defensive line lost three guys though, meaning the running defense could be suspect.
