Background - Bolton Wanderers Fc
The Wanderers entered the FA Cup for the first time in 1881/1882, but they were knocked out by their local rivals, Blackburn Rovers, in the second round. In 1883 the club was threatened with expulsion from the Lancashire FA after referee Sam Ormerod was booed off the field at Pikes Lane and then assaulted at the railway station. On April 17, 1888, the Bolton Wanderers became one of 12 to form the Football League.

 Although they call it football, we would call it soccer. In different countries there are different names for many of the same sports. Football in other countries refers to soccer, football, rugby, and probably many others.
In 1962/1963 it proved to be another year for the Wanderers to try to hold onto a first division rating. This season proved to be one that would be remembered. Not simply for the football but rather for the lack of it. This was because the game shut down from December to March due to bad weather. After December 8, 1962 the Wanderers didn't kick another football until February 16, 1963. After 34 games the Wanderers had still found themselves in 21st place. At the final game of the season Bolton went into a slump and got defeated by Birmingham and ended their run of 29 years in the top flight.
From 1964 to 1970/1971 the team was busy repairing itself and gaining and losing players. A former player was made into the assistant coach for the team on November 15, 1970. The 1970/1971 season proved to be the most traumatic. The coaching staff kept getting switched around and bumped all over. Just 18 days after taking the position, the manager resigned and left the club. There were financial issues hanging over the club off the field. They lost a couple of players and there was no money for replacements because the money they had had to go to keeping the club afloat.
Their last season just ended it was the 2003/2004 season.
