 The Boise State Broncos demolished its competition in 2008, going 12-0 and ending the year on top of the WAC Standings. The Broncos took that perfect record into the Poinsettia Bowl against the TCU Horned Frogs. Surprisingly, the Frogs thwarted the true perfect season with a 17-16 win over the Broncos.
Boise State has surprisingly few players named among the best in the WAC this preseason. They gave kicker Kyle Brotzman, and defensive backs Kyle Wilson and Jeron Johnson. Luckily this team still has quarterback Kellen Moore, though he is ranked second behind Nevada's Colin Kaepernick.
Despite the lack of individual excellence, the team still has more offensive weapons than most schools in major conferences. The Broncos have receivers Austin Pettis and Titus Young, running backs Jeremy Avery and D.J. Harper, tight ends Tommy Gallarda and Kyle Efaw along with quarterback Moore. The question is whether the offensive line will be able to give these players the time and holes they need to become one of the most exciting offenses in college football again.
The defense has a terrific coverage unit with four great players in the secondary. The rest of the defense is pretty much being overturned with new faces. This could spell disaster if Boise State plays a run-heavy team. It is also necessary to note that the Broncos special teams are amazing, which may help the defense by pinning opponents pretty close to the goal line.
