 Steve Hawkins begins his second season as coach and he helped bring some terrific defense to this group, allowing 43% shooting by opponents as the offense shot 47%. Defense was the name of the game and Western Michigan allowed 62 ppg at home, though 69 ppg on the road. The frontcourt is thin, however, with 6'-7' senior Levi Frost and 6'-6' F Jeff Bronson stepping in.
But the Western Michigan Broncos do have a talented backcourt, led by 6'-3' junior Ben Reed, who is a workhorse on the boards (16 ppg, 47% FGs, 5 rpg). 6'-6' Brian Snider and Ricky Willis return as starters giving the backcourt great experience. They also get a top freshman guard in Kristof Kendrick, whose father has NBA roots. They won't be as dominant, but will be in the mix for the MAC East title with their defense and experienced backcourt.
