Background - Washington Mystics
The Mystics are the WNBA counterpart of the Washington Wizards. But till date the two franchises are owned by two different companies. Sheila Johnson, the president of the team is also the co-founder of BET. The team wears deep blue with black and gold trim and white 'Mystics' logo on the chest on their tours. While playing at home, they have white with gold and light blue trim and light blue 'Mystics' logo text on the right leg of the shorts.

2006 Season Preview
|
 The Washington Mystics ,in their first season,1998,were lead by Olympian Nikki McCray. In 1999 they drafted University of Tennessee star Chamique Holdsclaw with high expectations. Holdsclaw lead the team throughout 2000. In 2001, Mystics' assistant coach Marianne Stanley became the head coach to tide the reverses. With the duo of Holdsclaw and guard Stacey Dales-Schumann, in 2002,the Mystics advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals. They lost 2 to 1 to the New York Liberty.
In 2004 With their all-star out, Duke University standout Alana Beard led a depleted Mystics to a surprising playoff appearance. The beginning of 2005 witnessed deep changes in the Mystics organization. Washington Sports and Entertainment sold the team to Lincoln Holdings. In 2005, the team finished the regular season with a win/loss record of 16-18 and failed to make the playoffs. But its energetic and never say die attitude remains as before. Tamara James from the University is drafted by the Mystics for the 2006 WNBA Draft. She is a versatile player who can shoot the three and plays hard every minute of the game. Mariam Sy of Oklahoma City University, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Player of the Year,2005, is also drafted. Can you afford to miss such great team's game ? Definitely NO.
