 The frontcourt is a great strength behind 6'-9' junior Christian Maraker (12.6 ppg, 6 rpg), 6'-8' senior Guillaume Yango (11 ppg, 5.8 rpg) and 6'-10' senior Tyler Newton (7 ppg). Maraker was Big West All-Freshman team two years ago and is a strong all around player. Throw in 6'-8' senior Matt Kemper and this unit has great rebounding and defensive depth.
The backcourt has some rebuilding to do with Davis gone. Senior 6'-1' David Doubley returns after averaging 8 ppg and leading the team in assists. Seniors Marko Mihailovic (6'-5') and 6'-4' Alan Purnell also should see some contribution time. Freshman guard 6'-1' Johnny Gray comes aboard along with 6'-8' freshman Anthony Brown for University of the Pacific Head Basketball Coach Bob Thomason. Brown is from Sacramento, Calif. He comes to Pacific after a year at Proctor Academy, a prep school in Andover, New Hampshire, where he averaged 30.1 points and 14.2 rebounds per game. Pacific should battle Utah State as the best team in the Big West all season, just like last year.
