Background - New Orleans Privateers
The New Orleans Privateers (17-14 SU, 14-15 ATS last season) have sophomore G Bo McCalebb (13 ppg), the Sun Belt Freshman of the Year. But there is little depth in the backcourt, so freshmen Todd Bostic and Jamie McNeilley will get some time. New Orleans was 11-3 SU/4-8 ATS at home, 6-11 SU/10-7 ATS on the road.

 The frontcourt is thin on experience, with 6'-10', 270-lb sophomore center Ben Elias stepping up along with 6'-8' Nathaniel Parker. Parker played in 29 games for the Privateers in 2003-04 including 10 starts. He averaged 5.4 points and 5.1 rebounds and led the team with 1.5 blocks per tilt. He had leg surgery in October and will miss the first few weeks of the season.
6'-7' freshman forward Jacob Manning and 6'-6' JC transfer Kenny Simelton also come aboard. Simelton played at Cloud County (Kan.) Community College last season. Simelton played in all 31 contests as he averaged 8.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per contest. In addition, he converted 42 percent of his shots from the floor and 73 percent from the line. There is youth and some holes to fill, so a trip back to the Sun Belt title game is unlikely.
